Vera Hartmann studied at the BTU Cottbus, at the ETSAB with Enric Miralles in Barcelona and at the UDK Berlin. Meanwhile she worked for Angélil Graham in Zurich and for asymptote architecture in New York. In 1999 she passed her diploma.

She joined Sauerbruch Hutton in 2000. As a project manager, she is responsible for all project phases, with a focus on housing and educational buildings in the fields of new construction, refurbishment and renovation, and interior design. Vera became a partner in 2020 and was elected to the managing board in 2023.
