Nine years since having published their first monograph, Archive, Sauerbruch Hutton and Lars Müller Publishers were launching Archive 2. This book has dual purpose: to document Sauerbruch Hutton’s most significant works within the period from 2006 to 2015 and to expose the patterns of thought that underlie the respective design processes. It documents the project goals, along with the strategies and techniques that we chose to achieve them. Essays that were written more or less in parallel for various conferences offer an intellectual counterpart to the material content of the office’s architectural production. The resulting dialogue between thought and matter roughly reflects the reality of our practice and thus supports the documentary character of the book.
